An Italian Modern Glass Chandelier by Seguso

A fine Italian Mid-Century Modern solid glass chandelier or lantern in the Art Moderne taste by Seguso Vetri d’Art. The six solid pale green glass ribs issuing from a well patinated brass central structure enclosing the three arms and their flared bobeches.

Italy, circa 1935

A striking bell-form lantern, or chandelier, whose green glass appears paler or darker depending on the ambient light. The piece manages to be both strong and light and airy, the solid glass ribs forming a strong and graphic outline whilst not actually enclosing the arms within in solid glass.

A very rare model but another example can be seen in a Mayfair apartment designed by Steven Gambrel in teh 2018 December issue of House and Garden.
